Two Rivers Middle Girls Soccer Defeat Classical

$

The Two Rivers Magnet Middle School girls soccer team went to Classical for the final game of the season. The lady Hurricanes were attacking the net, having numerous shots on goal.  Unfortunately, Classical was able to sneak one passed the Hurricanes goalie first.  The ladies never gave up and kept pressure on the goalie for most of the first half, but they couldn't get one past the goal keeper.  The ladies left the first half down one goal, but ready for the second half!

Sam Jones, playing on the defensive end, kept pounding the ball into Classical's side of the field.  This constant pressure allowed Raina Mendoza to score, which tied the game for the Hurricanes.  Classical responded, taking the lead again, but the Hurricanes never gave up.

Led by Hannah Sullivan and Vanessa Langer in the middle of the field, the ladies were able to create an opportunity for Kylie Dalton to score off an assist from Sam Jones at mid-field.

Arianna Ferguson was again aggressive in goal, protecting the net and keeping the Hurricanes in the game.

The Hurricanes kept pressure and pushed the ball, which allowed Raina Mendoza to score again, and the Hurricanes to take in the lead and win the game.

The final score was 3-2, and the Hurricanes are 10-0, an undefeated season; something to be very proud of. They head into the Hartford Playoffs next week.

Two Rivers MS Boys Soccer vs. MLC

Final Score: TRMS 3 : CMMS 1

The matchup between TRMS and MLC was definitely one for the ages. After losing their first time playing against MLC, TRMS came out even harder than they had before. In only the first half of the game, TRMS was able to put away three goals.

Scored by Anthony, CJ and Gustavo, each player had a crucial role in the outcome of the game. Two other noticeable players were defenders Austin, Lester and Clinton and center midfield Jason. Both center backs were able to close down any danger before it escalated into something else.

After the final whistle blew for a 3-1 victory, the team celebrated on the field together.

Finally, there was a medal ceremony to honor the athletes' accomplishments.

Two Rivers Middle Girls Soccer are CREC Championship & Middle School Magnet Champs

The Two Rivers Magnet Middle School girls soccer team battled for the Hartford Magnet Championship on Monday, November 10, 2014.

The girls battled during the first half.  With great effort from Hannah Sullivan and Vanessa Langer leading the eighth graders.  The Hurricanes were first to strike on a corner kick from Sam Jones.  She was able to pass to Vanessa Langer, who provided a great return assist that allowed Sam to score for the Hurricanes. The ladies went into half-time with a 1 - 0 lead.

That was the only goal the ladies would need to secure the win.  Zoe Vaz and Emily Gomez played excellent shadow defense, which limited Classical from making any big plays in the second half. The offensive pressure from Raina Mendoza and Taleea Wiggins kept Classical Magnet School on their toes during the second half.

The Hurricanes defensive line of Mackenzie Dodge, Raina Becker, Sam Jones, and Hannah Sullivan limited the opportunities for Classical Magnet School.  Arianna Ferguson had several nice saves in goal, which protected Two Rivers' lead in the second half.

The final score was TRMMS 1 - Classical Magnet 0.

The Ladies are dual champions and protected their undefeated season, finishing with a 10 - 0 regular season record, and 15 - 0 overall record with two championships: The CREC Middle School Championship and Middle School Harford Magnet Championship.

Congrats on a great season ladies.  You have a lot to be proud of.
